Damert, Edna (1913 - 2001)
Edna Damert, 87, Neillsville, died on
Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., on Friday, March 16, at St.
John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville. The Rev. Timothy
Biebert officiated. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dan Elmhorst, Calvin Gerhardt, Pete Erickson, Earl
Luchterhand, Floyd Schoen, and Allen Scott.
Edna Nettie Grimm was born on May 7, 1913, in Arpin, to Albert and
Emma (nee Hauser) Grimm. She attended schools in Arpin and
Marshfield. She married Lawrence Damert in June 1930, in Arpin.
After their marriage, they lived near Babcock, and later moved to a
farm in Marshfield. In 1937, they moved to the Neillsville area
where they farmed until retiring in 1979. He died in 1982. She was
a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Ladies
Aide. She also belonged to the Good Neighbors Homemakers Club. She
enjoyed making crafts, doing crossword puzzles, and crocheting.
Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie Lau, Stratford, and
Audrey Meyer, Neillsville two sons, Leonard (Carol) Damert,
Cassville, and David (Joy) Damert, Portland, Ore. 12 grandchildren
17 great-grandchildren three great-great-grandchildren one brother,
Glenn (Dorothy) Grimm, Harrisburg, Pa. two sisters-in-law, Vera
Grimm, New Glarus, and Gertrude DeMert, Neillsville one aunt,
Bertha Serchen, Marshfield and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Lawrence four
sister, Margaret, Rachelle, Marie and Alma one brother, Marvin and
one son-in-law, Arthur Lau.
The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with
arrangements.
